Questions
Why does the live preview look slightly different from the photo I get?
The live tint is a fast approximation built from just exposure, contrast, saturation and temperature — the part of a preset a real-time video filter can express cheaply. The captured photo instead runs the exact filter pipeline, including grain, vignette and fade, so a preset with those can look a little different live than in the final shot. This is exactly how the Tilo Grid app's own camera works.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The camera stream and the captured photo stay in your browser the entire time — the same privacy guarantee as every other tool on this site.
Why is there no flash toggle?
Flash is a hardware feature of a phone's camera. A webcam has no flash to control, so it's left out of the web version rather than shown as a control that does nothing.
Can I use my phone's front camera?
Yes, if your browser reports more than one camera a flip button appears in the top right of the viewfinder. Most laptops only have one camera, in which case the button is hidden rather than shown with nothing to flip to.
